Drusilla and Lila: Sisters?

by lkm44 | December 3rd, 2007

Have you ever thought about how many similarities there are between Lila from “Dexter” and Drusilla from “Buffy the Vampire Slayer?”

1. Both are extremely pale and brunette and really toned even though there is no way either of them ever exercises.

2. Both are crazy. Although Dru maybe more so since she likes to eat puppies and teenagers who have everything to live for. But then again, she has no soul which means that she can’t really help it, and technically Lila can, so maybe that makes Lila’s crimes more deplorable. Also, Dru was supposed to be a nun before she became a vampire..but then again she did go insane before Angel sired her…it’s a tough call.

3. Both like blood. Dru likes drinking it and Lila likes making art inspired by it. And she sets Dexter up to be stabbed so she likes spilling it too I guess.

4. Both have British accents. Although Dru’s is REALLY cockney, “‘Ello, ow are ou?” style.

5. Both are attracted to troubled, fair-haired killers.

6. Both are psychic, although Dru more obviously so. Lila is psychic the way crazy people are, i.e., she is very manipulative and used to being rejected so she is hypersensitive.

7. Both are promiscuous and try to make their boyfriends jealous by getting with men named Angel (!).

8. Both have intense relationships with characters played by Julia Benz: Julia as Darla is responsible for Drusilla becoming a vampire (through Angel), and Julia as Rita is the object of Lila’s jealousy and rage. Drusilla also re-sires Darla on “Angel” and they go on a killing spree together.

9. I can’t think of any more…hmm…both are pale? Oh right, I said that. They are SO pale though. Nothing against pale people - I myself am pale - but these women are butt white.

Can you think of any more similarities? I am sure I missed some.

James Marsters should guest star on Dexter. They could have a duel of wit and the best technique for getting every drop of blood from a corpse.

I haven’t watched Dexter, so I don’t get the comparison, but this post made me nostalgic for early-mid Buffy. Drucilla signaled the beginning of the end for that great show.

Excellent post….we do, however, see Lila’s boobs more than we saw Drusilla’s. Showtime’s producers obviously know that a certain segment of its audience just wants to see pale, virtually transparent breasts.
