• I need to start seeing movies. I haven’t seen ANY of the Best Movie-Drama nominees. Eek!
• Cate Blanchett is nominated as Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress. If anyone can take two statues home, it’s her!
• I’m amazed that this “Walk Hard” comedy parody got so many nominations. I think they may have just sold one more ticket!
• Speaking of the Best Movie - Musical or Comedy category, it’s nice to see that three of them are actual musicals! And I’m glad that Across the Universe got something, because it really was an admirable undertaking
• Keira Knightley has made the leap to legitimate actress with this nomination - way to go!
• This list confirms what I already knew: I want to see Juno!
• The Ang Lee film, “Lust, Caution” with our college acquaintance as the star is nominated for Best Foreign Film! AAAGH! Maybe he’ll be at the GGs!
• This was a lean year for animated movies. I bet the GGs managing board is angry they made that separate category a few years back…
• And the lifetime achievement award to Steven Spielberg will almost certainly have a “War of the Worlds” scene, which I frankly will not tolerate.
