Totally inexplicable, but Britney’s started speaking in a quasi-British accent. Check it out here.

Britney Spears in hospital againMaybe part of why the Heath Ledger death was so surprising was that he wasn’t in the media very often, at least not for drug issues or mental breakdowns. Contrast that with reports today that Britney is back in the hospital. She’s clearly not well and the paparazzi is swarming. Are “we” - media, fans, culture - killing Britney? It feels like we’re watching a person deteriorate on the evening news. That can’t be good for anyone.

I’m not ENTIRELY sure that this article is reliable, but it says that Jamie-Lynn will be giving her baby to her mother to raise while she goes back to “show business.”

a) Doesn’t it seem like her career is dead in the water?

b) Does this mean that Jamie Lynn’s baby will be more like her sibling than her own child? Wacky!

Tony Harris is a doltThis isn’t about movies or Hollywood, but I have to vent: Does anyone else absolutely hate the CNN Anchor Tony Harris? He drives me crazy. He’s glib, vapid, and he makes endless (very bad) jokes. He seems to enjoy ending interviews, where nothing useful is elicited, by taking a long pause and then saying: “Hmm, great interview. very helpful”. Clearly he never listens.

I searched for any “I hate Tony Harris” websites, and to my chagrin there are none. I did, however, find two blog posts that I officially join in Tony Harris-hating solidarity. One post lists Tony Harris as #3 on its “list of terrible news anchors” and criticizes his habit of “looking off into space, as if he’s thinking” (I think this speaks to my ‘vapid’ allegation). And then another blog complains about Tony’s habit of “hmmm’ing” as his interviewers talk. Couldn’t agree more.

I’ll add more examples as Tony makes them. But seriously, is no one else annoyed by him? Is there a more annoying anchor? (I’m excluding the undeniable crackpots, like Bill O’Reilly) Any suggestions on other most-hated news anchors , or Tony Harris bloopers, are most welcome.

Update: More Tony-hating.

Bland and Blander

Does anyone else find this pair-up totally unexciting?  For some reason, Hartnett takes the wind out of Kirsten Dunst’s sails, in my opinion. Blah.

IMDB reports:

“Actors Josh Hartnett and Kirsten Dunst have fuelled speculation they’re romantically involved after the couple was spotted kissing at the Sundance Film Festival. The stars were watching a performance by music group Camp Freddy at the Park City, Utah event when they stunned revelers with a public display of affection after the gig. A source tells U.S. publication People, “They were making out like crazy.”

Heath Ledger Found DeadSad news:

The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28. At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let [...]

Also see here. Apparently there have been rumors of drug use for awhile. See Lainey Gossip here and here, but who can say what’s true. Early reports suggest it wasn’t a suicide; not much more is known right now.

Ledger was definitely an interesting actor. I’m looking forward to his role as the Joker in the upcoming Batman movie (The Dark Knight), which sadly will be his last. And a quick look through IMDB reveals a pretty fascinating collection of roles. From critical acclaim in “Brokeback Mountain” to “Lords of Dogtown”, “The Brother’s Grim”, and of course “A Knight’s Tale”.

He was too young.
